It Is scored for 2 oboes, bassoon, 2 horns, strings as well as the basso continuo also known as figured bass. Like many of the earliest symphonies by Haydn is in three movements: Movement 1 is Allegro, Movement 2 is in Andante in G Major, and Movement 3 is Presto. In the second movement, the wind Instruments are omitted and the violins play In semiquavers room start to finish with the pattern frequently broken by the use of trills. The violas in this slow movement double the bass part throughout. The last movement is 1 OFF Ninth imitative processes. It is the only one of Heydays symphonies that contains no repeat signs. It is also one of his shortest symphonies and when performed it generally lasts less than ten minutes. Exposition: When the first theme starts it is in a syncopated rhythm with all the Instruments. After the syncopation it modulates to G major. One thing that is very prominent is the way Haydn starts the piece in middle C then Jumped down an octave then moving up the scale until he comes back to middle C.Moving through the first theme the syncopation disappears and then reappears with the original underlying first theme in the second violin part as the theme slowly evolves into the second theme. You definitely hear the change in themes because you go from a very bouncy feeling to a more dramatic feel. When the second theme starts it modulates to G minor until it reaches the transition in which it modulates back to G Major. The transition carries over to the Repeated Exposition in G major it is in the strings only. E second time the second theme appears it is in G major and is quickly shift to a transition that modulates to B minor and Just as quickly in A major and then back to 3 major. This leads us into the development. Rhea Development: The development section is Just as lively as the beginning but is also short. It starts in C major. The melody goes back in forth between the treble and bass voices. When it modulates to G Major the notes become more syncopated that goes back and forth between the tonic and dominate. He ends the development with syncopation the strings only ending with a big Major 1 chord in G Major.Recapitulation: The recapitulation starts with a modulation in C major and uses the same syncopated rhythm as at the beginning of theme one. Except when it moves to the second theme it modulates to Be Major. It is also very short that carries over right Into the closing theme. Closing Theme: The closing theme stays in C major until the end. In goes back and forth between tonic and dominant. He ends the entire piece with the beginning of the first them with the syncopated rhythm in only the violins and ends with a Perfect Authentic Cadence in C Major.

Sibling Rivalry Essays (505 words) - Sibling, Family,
Sibling Rivalry When dealing with sibling rivalry it is always important to be fair and not jump to conclusions. It is also very important to remain neutral. One must also deal with conflicts objectively, so as not to allow your own problems get in the way and worsen the conflict. These rules go for both parents and baby sitters and should always be kept in mind when dealing with such situations. One of the roots of sibling rivalry is jealousy. Another is fear. When the rivalry is between a baby and a toddler it may be because the toddler is jealous about the attention his brother is receiving or out of fear that he will receive less attention now that his mother is caring for his brother. In such a situation the older brother may act violently toward his younger brother in the absence of an adult. In such a situation there are different theories about what to do. Some say that a parent should allow them to work it out by themselves (unless the baby is too young). The instinctive reaction is to scold the older brother and "baby" the younger brother. This helps neither brother. The younger brother feels more dependent, which damages his self-image, while it makes the older brother resent the attention his younger brother receives even more. In this situation my personal belief is that a person should calmly explain to the older brother that what he did was wrong, but forgivable. You should also explain why it was wrong in a way the child can understand. In my opinion the worst thing a person could do in this situation is to force the child to apologize. It will reestablish that what he did was wrong, and, since his baby brother is not able to respond, will make him feel even more guilty. The apology will also be insincere unless it is explained to the child why what he did was wrong. The guilt the child feels will also be translated into a facade of other feelings. I believe it is most likely that the dominant feeling would be even more anger toward his younger brother. In my opinion, older children would be able to work out their arguments for themselves if they are separated and forced to present their reasoning (with the help of an adult to translate). Punishment is also a hard topic to deal with. Not giving punishment would tell a child it is okay to bully someone weaker. A harsh punishment would only amplify the tension between the siblings. I believe that punishments should be fair, and, when assigning them, be sure that the child being punished understands that he is not being punished because of his brother, but because he knew his actions were wrong and committed them anyway. If the child was ignorant that his actions were wrong, I believe you should explain to them why their action was wrong and suggest another way of with dealing with his situation, oppose to punishment. Sibling rivalry is unavoidable, but can probably be lessened by treating children equally, not jumping to conclusions, and helping children establish a firm morale base which they adhere to.

My brother, Beau, attends school in Shawnee, Oklahoma. He is a 4.0 honor student and president of his class. He plays football, basketball, baseball, and wrestles. He is Mr. Popular amongst his fellow classmates, but on February 5, 1999 this would all change. Beau was wrestling at a tournament in Sulfur, Oklahoma on February 5, 1999. He had made it to the championship match later that evening. The match was going well. Beau was ahead 5 to 3 until disaster struck. Billy Thompson, the person my brother was wrestling, had Beau in a headlock. Beau then put his foot behind Billys feet in order to trip him, but Billy held on. My brother landed on the top of his head breaking his neck between the first and second vertebrae. Imminently he was rushed to the nearby hospital in Sulfur. The radiologist said he had a strained neck muscle and sent him home in a soft collar brace. The next day Beau went to the doctor in Shawnee and she imminently referred him to the neurosurgeon in Oklahoma City, Dr. Hisie. Dr. Hisie found the break and scheduled a surgery. Chemistry Soya Milk Essay Example for Free
Chemistry Soya Milk Essay This project has been chosen in view of increasing demand of milk and also due to higher expectations of good quality and low fat diet requirements of the people with better awareness. Also the requirement for such quality products is more acute today. In this project I have prepared soy milk from soyabeans and have compared the conditions of formation of good quality cow milk yogurt and soy milk yogurt. I have also tried to find the effect of temperature on the pH of cowââ¬â¢s milk and soy milk. Thus I have selected this project to find a suitable replacement of cow milk in soy milk to meet the demands of the ever increasing population. SOY MILK: Soy milk (also called soya milk, soymilk, soybean milk, or soy juice) and sometimes referred to as soy drink/beverage is a beverage made from soybeans. A stable emulsion of oil, water, and protein, it is produced by soaking dry soybeans and grinding them with water. Soy milk contains about the same proportion of protein as cowââ¬â¢s milk: around 3. 5%; also 2% fat, 2. 9% carbohydrate, and 0. 5% ash. Soy milk can be made at home with traditional kitchen tools or with a soy milk machine. The coagulated protein from Tofu, just as soy milk can be made into made into cheese. Soy milk can be made from whole soybeans or full-fat soy flour. The dry beans are soaked in water overnight or for a minimum of 3 hours or more depending on the temperature of the water. The dehydrated beans then undergo wet grinding with enough added water to give the desired solids A can of Yeoââ¬â¢s soymilk, poured into a glass. Soy milk can be made from soya beans or full flat soy flour. The dry beans are soaked in water for a minimum of 3 hours. The dehydrated beans then undergo wet grinding with enough added water to give the desired solid content to the final product. The ratio of water to beans on a weight basis should be about 10:1. The resulting slurry or puree is brought to a boil in order to improve its nutritional value by heat inactivating soybean trypsin inhibitor, improve its flavor and to sterilize the product. Heating at or near the boiling point is continued for a period of time, 15-20 minutes, followed by the removal of an insoluble residue by filtration. SOY YOGURT ââ¬â Soy yogurt looks like regular cream yogurt. Soy yogurt, (Soya yoghurt in British English) also referred to as Soygurt or Yofu (a portmanteau of yoghurt and tofu), is yogurt prepared using soy milk, yogurt bacteria, mainly Lactobacillus bulgaricus and Streptococcus thermophilus and sometimes additional sweetener, like fructose, glucose, or raw sugar . It is suitable for vegans, as the bacteria for shop-bought soy yogurt are usually not grown on a dairy base. Soy yogurt can be prepared at home using the same method as dairy yogurt. One tablespoon of sugar per 1 liter of unsweetened soy milk may be added to promote bacterial fermentation. Soy milk on its own lacks the lactose (milk sugar) that is the basic food for the yogurt bacteria. Soy yogurt may have a slight beany soy taste when made directly from freshly prepared soymilk, but this is less pronounced in shop-bought soy yogurt and in soy yogurt made from commercial soy milk. Soy yogurt contains less fat than yogurt made with whole milk. This amounts to about 2. 7% (the same percentage as soy milk), versus 3. 5% in dairy yogurt. However, dairy yogurt can be made with 2%, 1%, or fat-free milk, and these cases, it is lower in fat than soy yogurt. Cow Yogurt Yogurt, also spelled yoghourt or yoghourt, is a favorite breakfast, lunch, or snack. A thick, custard- or pudding-like food, yogurt is made by the natural bacterial fermentation of milk. The process of making yogurt involves culturing cream or milk with live and active bacterial cultures; this is accomplished by adding bacteria directly to the milk. Commercially made yogurt is usually made with a culture of Lactobacillus acidophilus and Streptococcus thermophilis. Yogurt made at home is usually started by adding a dab of commercially made yogurt to boiled milk, and then keeping the mixture at 45à °C. In Western cultures, yogurt is enjoyed in a variety of ways, most popularly as a cool dish mixed with fruit. Yogurt can be used to make healthy shakes or frozen to eat like ice cream. Yogurt can also be used when cooking, in place of milk, sour cream, and even some cheeses. In Middle Eastern cultures, yogurt is frequently served with meat, meat sauces, and vegetables, It can be mixed with various other sauces or used as a tangy dollop on top of a meal. There are 9 amino acids that the human body cannot make and must be obtained from the diet. These are called the essential amino acids. The amino acids within protein chains can bond across the chain and fold to form 3-dimensional structures. Proteins can be relatively straight or form tightly compacted globules or be somewhere in between. The term ââ¬Å"denaturedâ⬠is used when proteins unfold from their native chain or globular shape. Denaturing proteins is beneficial in some instances, such as allowing easy access to the protein chain by enzymes for digestion, or for increasing the ability of the whey proteins to bind water and provide a desirable texture in yogurt production. The main (starter) cultures in yogurt are Lactobacillus bulgaricus and Streptococcus thermophilus. The function of the starter cultures is to ferment lactose (milk sugar) to produce lactic acid. The increase in lactic acid decreases pH and causes the milk to clot, or form the soft gel that is characteristic of yogurt. The fermentation of lactose also produces the flavor compounds that are characteristic of yogurt. REQUIREMENTS Beakers, pestle and mortar, measuring cylinder, glass rod, tripod-stand, thermometer, muslin cloth, burner. Soya beans, cow milk, fresh curd and distilled water, pH papers. PROCEDURE 1) Soak about 150g of Soya beans in sufficient amount of water so that they are completely dipped in it. 2) Take out swollen Soya beans and grind them to a very fine paste 3) Filter it through a muslin cloth. Clear white filtrate is soya bean milk. Compare its taste with cow milk. 4) Take 50 ml of soya bean milk in three other beakers and heat the beakers to 300, 40à °and 50à °C respectively. Add ? spoonful curd to each of these beakers. Leave the beakers undisturbed for 8 hours and curd is formed. 5) Similarly, take 50 ml of cow milk in three beakers and heat the beakers to 30à °, 40à ° and 50à °C respectively. Add ? spoonful curd to each of these beakers. Leave the beakers undisturbed for 8 hours and curd is formed. 6) Take 20 ml of cow milk and soya bean milk in two separate test tube and test OBSERVATION TYPE OF MILK| BEAKER NO| TEMPERATURE. Obesity ( Science) Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1500 words
Obesity ( Science) - Essay Example Obesity can simply be described as the over accumulation of fats in our body. It poses a serious threat as it may lead to several heart diseases and even diabetes. The main reasons for obesity are overeating, irregular eating patterns and habits as well as lack of daily physical activity. Some of the common problems caused by obesity are increased sweating, difficulty in breathing, difficulty in doing physical activities and so on. As mentioned earlier, the only remedy for this health problem is to lose weight through a systematic and organized diet system, which incorporates both elements: food and exercise. Our body needs a certain amount of calories each day. The excess calories that we obtain through overeating is stored as fat. This stored up fat can be burned out only by exercising. ââ¬Å"Patients with obesity often have multiple nutrition-related medical problems (e.g. Hypertension and diabetes) that make a needs assessment necessary to prioritize the treatment approachesâ⠬ (Gumbiner, B., 2001, P.170) This paper deals with an investigation and comparison of Atkins diet and the Cabbage Soup Diet, the two popular diet plans that may help people to reduce weight and set them free from obesity. Atkins diet was created keeping in mind people who eat too much. These people take in large amounts of carbohydrates daily. The body is designed in a unique way to obtain energy from the food eaten. This is done by burning the carbohydrates and fats stored in the body. Atkins diet tries to reduce the use of carbohydrates, which will lead to the use of excess fat in the body that will help in loosing weight. ââ¬Å"By restricting carbohydrates drastically to a mere fraction of that found in the typical American diet, the body goes into a state of ketosis which means it burns its own fat for fuelâ⬠(The Atkins Diet, 2011). When a person is in this state, his or her body burns the excess fat instead of the carbohydrates, which reduces the feeling of hunger and this ultimately results in weight loss. On the other hand, the Cabbage Soup Diet is just a restrictive diet. It has a well planned, systematic list of the things that one has to eat each day of the week. Kathleen M. Zelman says that these meals have to be eaten at home as they are not available in any restaurants. ââ¬Å"The Cabbage Soup Diet plan promises a 10- pound weight loss in one weekâ⬠(Zelman, 2011). It is said that Cabbage Soup Diet helps to reduce weight if one sticks to the list of allowed food on alternate days along with fat free cabbage soup. ââ¬Å"The new cabbage soup diet (Margaret Danbront) allows dieters to eat as much cabbage soup as they like, plus other food as directedâ⬠(IDEA Health & Fitness. 2002, P. 79). A person following this diet should drink plenty of water and should avoid alcohols at any cost. On the first day, along with the cabbage soup, the individual following this diet system should eat fruits and drink unsweetened tea, coffee or wat er. On the second day, again the cabbage soup as well as vegetables that contain low calories and baked potatoes with butter must be taken. On the third day, the individual is supposed to have both fruits and vegetables as taken on the first and second day along with cabbage soup. On the fourth day the plan is to consume up to eight bananas with skimmed milk, but without omitting the soup. Next day marks the beginning to eat beef, chicken

Reading response - Assignment Example headednessâ⬠and ââ¬Å"handednessâ⬠the author notes how contemporary scholars in psychology have come up with various categories of intelligence, which provide better insight into what aptitude constitutes. These intelligence types include logical, musical, linguistic, spatial, bodily, interpersonal, and intrapersonal. These intelligence classes are not distinctive and most often individuals possess several in tandem. The second article titled ââ¬Å"The Narrative Construction of Realityâ⬠by Bruner (2-21) denotes how extensive the focus on the manner through which human beings achieve true knowledge has been since time immemorial. According to the author, the quest for understanding this has brought about immense development in the field of psychology attempting to explain peopleââ¬â¢s acquisition of knowledge. The article emphasizes that the traditional explanations for knowledge were unilinear, either rationalist focusing on the mindââ¬â¢s internal power or empiricist on the ability to learn from externalities. The principle argument supported by the article is that manââ¬â¢s knowledge capacity is a combination of several factors and is neither strictly unilinear not logical. For this reason, individuals must not only strive to be rational, but also embrace symbolic external factors to gain knowledge. The final article ââ¬Å"Science and Linguisticsâ⬠by Whorf (69-70), begins by providing description of what the author refers to as "natural logic". This is a concept suggesting that every person beyond infancy talks and has deeply embedded ideas regarding speech and its connection to thinking. The authorââ¬â¢s principal assertion is that thought and language are autonomous and that thinking is the same for virtually everyone, with the only slight distinction being in language. All of the articles point towards the psychology of learning, knowledge, or overall intelligence. These scholarly works also show that human intelligence cannot be considered to be as a result of
